Wonky Stone
May 26th, 2010
The facade of a Catholic church in Capiz Province. The entire building is made entirely of stone, and the material has moss and mud of centuries embedded in its cracks and crevices. Also taken from a rather wonky angle, with the view somewhat disrupted by electrical lines.

Skyward Pinnacle
May 25th, 2010
The highest turret of a Catholic church in Capiz Province. This picture was obviously taken from a very wonky angle which is, of course, a window seat of the bus. Notice that the pinnacle of the structure is slowly being overgrown by wild-looking ivy and moss.

Rocky Arrogance
May 22nd, 2010
A female chicken, called Munga (Hiligaynon for “female chicken”). She was photographed at the rocky portion of a suburban front yard, where she spends her days luxuriating in the sun and examining the plants.

Running into the Hills
May 21st, 2010
The skyline of Capiz, as viewed from the bell tower of a local church. One can see a small town, surrounded by brackish-water ponds for raising fish and other sea fare, running into the low, wide hills at the edge of the horizon.

Red on Red
May 20th, 2010
A bouquet of very expensive flowers given to me, during a period of hospitalization from serious illness. The bouquet was sent by airplane from Metro Manila and delivered straight to me. It took a good number of weeks before the flowers dried out, so the bouquet was photographed on a red couch after I left the hospital.

Solitary Confinement
May 19th, 2010
The subject is an endangered species of wild boar, indigenous to the Philippines. It is one of the few captured and being raised by a reservation in Capiz. I was struck by its melancholy pose behind its pen of wires.

Close Clang
May 18th, 2010
The church bell that is known to be the biggest throughout Capiz and Panay Island, shot up close. Note the various vandalisms written on its surface. I guess some people have no respect even for the legendary objects in our culture and history.
