Color Crumple

Believe it or not, all these items were made with old newspapers as raw material. The newsprint is cut into long rectangles and folded into strips thick and strong enough for tight weaving, then these strips are woven (as in native mats) into the shape of desired object. The completed object is then painted, varnished and decorated with buttons, lace, rick-rack and other materials.

This was taken with a Kodak KB-10 camera at the PNB Exhibit Center, Iloilo City, Philippines in January 1997.
